Sierra Leone Football Association President (SLFA) Thomas Daddy Brima on Tuesday, 19th March. 2024, was briefed on the conclusion of the SLFA Constitutional Review. The process officially ended at the SLFA Secretariat in Kingtom, Freetown.

FIFA, the governing body of world football, played a crucial role in guiding the review process, sending two of its governance officials- Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Mokhtar Harraz and Mohamed Khaled Amin Elshawarby to ensure alignment with FIFA’s governance standards.

The meeting, attended by Vice President-1 Harold Nat-Johnson, and two Executive Committee members- Prince Saquee and Brima Jalloh, marked a significant milestone in SLFA’s efforts to enhance its governance framework.

The reviewed statute, once approved by Congress, is expected to bring about essential changes aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and efficiency within the association.

Also present were SLFA Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh and two of the Constitutional Review Committee members, Angella C. Gabbidon and Alhassan Idriss Bangura.

In his statement, President Brima expressed his gratitude to FIFA for its support and guidance throughout the review process, emphasising SLFA’s commitment to implementing the recommended changes. He highlighted the importance of the reviewed constitution in strengthening football governance in Sierra Leone and ensuring the association’s compliance with international standards.

The use of the reviewed statute is now pending approval by SLFA’s Congress, which will convene to discuss and vote on the proposed changes.

If approved, the new constitution will mark a significant step forward for football administration in Sierra Leone, setting the stage for a more transparent and accountable governance structure.
