NLe3, 500 or Le3.5m went to members of the Finance Unit at Orange Sierra Leone (OSL) after they emerged as winners in a cooking competition held three days ago. The Marketing Team also of OSL got NLe2, 500 or Le2.5m while the Aric/ IT&N unit won NLe1, 500 after they emerged second and third respectively.
The competition was held last Friday at OSL headquarters in Freetown in which mostly women took part. The men were also with them lending a helping hand to the chores.
The competition which the first at the moment is part of OSL’s women empowerment drive for which the company has won laurels within and outside Sierra Leone. It is yet unclear whether another competition will be held, but expectations that it might be held in the future remain high.
Taste of the food, preparation, hygiene, coordination among the team and presentation of the food are key criteria used in determining the winner. Speaking on behalf of the company, OSL Women President, Martha Sumaila said the competition was a way of creating a platform for women to grow, thrive and blossom.
“The cooking competition also means that women have a space outside the office,” she emphasised.
Sumaila who is also Head of Communication, Digital and Sponsorship reminded the press that few days ago Sierra Leone joined the world in celebrating women and that the cooking was a way of engaging women to showcase their talents.
