As Female Cricket League set to commence… Mercury MD Lures Corporate Houses

Martin Michael, Managing Director for Sierra Leone leading sport betting company and Chairman for the Sierra Leone Cricket Board, has called on Corporate Houses in the country and other philanthropists to support the ongoing construction of a cricket oval stand at the Prince of Wales School in Kingtom.
Mr. Michael noted that the Association has some money which they have started to do the construction works but they are calling on more donors towards executing the conclusion of the project.
Similar construction works are also expected to start at the Police field in Kingtom.
He further noted that they are making this appeal against the backdrop that government is preoccupied with other competing priorities.
The Cricket Board Chairman has officially commissioned and turned the sod for the construction of a cricket stand, dressing room and other facilities at the cricket facility at Kingtom.
Sierra Leone has been doing remarkably well in the sub region as far cricket is concerned having won several laurels, but the country lacks standard venues for playing and hosting the game. It is expected that the construction of the Prince of Wales facility would be a boost for the game.
The cricket Association is about to officially commence the start of the cricket Female League on the 27th February, 2019 with eight teams already poised to compete. The Sierra Leone Police Cricket team are defending champions for the league.
The move to commence female cricket league is against the backdrop that the International Cricket Association has made it a must for member nations to have female competitions. Sierra Leone female cricket team is defending champions for the West African female cricket after they recently won the tournament in the Gambia.
The Association is still constrained with equipment and other resources to effectively play the game.
