As Gento ‘Gentry’…Waterloo Township Roads Cost Le84Bn -Updated version

The Government of Sierra Leone will pay the Gento Group of companies the whooping sum of 84 Billion Leones for the construction of the Waterloo Township roads.

The project started some few years back and is going at a  snail pace as the construction company has only tarred a single road, the Calmont road. A huge number of the other streets are yet to be completed even though earthworks and the construction of drainages have also been done.

It is not clear whether the snail pace of the Waterloo Township project has to do with the payment of funds to the contractor or to the inability of the contractor to complete the works whose construction period has almost elapsed.

The current status of the project is creating problems for the people of Waterloo who are presently having fractured legs as a result of abandoned drainages and culverts. There is also an acute shortage of water due to the fact that the construction works have destroyed a good number of the water infrastructures in the area.

There is seemingly a lack of communication between the Gento Group of Companies and the people of Waterloo   to explain the reasons for delay in the construction of the roads. Many believe this is happening because a very good number of these stakeholders mainly APC big guns have fought tooth and nail for the company to be awarded the Waterloo roads against other more credible competitors.
