At MBSSE… Billions of Donor Funds Un-accounted For

The Sub-Appropriation Committee 2 reports on the recurrent and development budget estimates for 2020 chaired by Hon. Moses M. Jorkie, has reported that the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education could not report on all donor funds allotted to the Ministry since the commencement of the Free Quality Education.
The amounts so far donated were Le 1,489,480,050 from UNICEF, $10,000,000 from the World Bank, USD 6,000,000 from SL/IDB and Euro 4, 41250.86 from the European Union.
The Ministry was allocated Le 119,505,000,000 and they reported that they spent Le 236,263,600,000 for the 1st and 2nd quarters.
According to the Permanent Secretary, both government regular budget allocations and donor funds were expended on construction of new classrooms, school feeding program, provision of textbooks, teaching and learning materials, payment of external examinations fees and tuition fees for all children in government owned and government assisted schools.
