The Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mr. Fuad Daboh, has told journalists that operations and benefits payments are at the forefront of the Trust’s business as it remains the fundamental purpose for the establishment of the Scheme.
He espoused that, as a proof of the importance his management attaches to the core operations of the Scheme, the Trust has recently commissioned and handed over fifteen motorbikes to the inspectors to enhance their mobility in carrying out their duties.
“We have also provided training and social security compliance for these inspectors in their areas of operations”, Mr. Daboh stated.
The NASSIT DG said it is their conviction that, if the Trust is to succeed in achieving its mandate of registering members, collecting contributions, enforcing compliance, paying benefits, the staff must be armed with both requisite skills, knowledge and equipment to carry out their duties.
The unassuming DG also used the occasion to brief journalists about the huge success the launching of the telephone, via both Orange and Africell network, have had on customers.
“Today, our customers and even the general public are easily and conveniently accessing our services in the comfort of their homes,” the DG proudly noted.
Professionals in the Benefits and Operations sections and Investment also made detailed presentations to journalists on their entire operations, including success, challenges and gaps. The meeting climaxed with interaction of the press and the various professionals.
The interactive session was commended as laudable by many who attended the session. The Trust is increasingly coming under immense pressure especially after the launching of the Special Technical Audit Report.
