One of the best pharmaceutical companies in the country, Balani and Sons in collaboration with the London United Exports Limited (LUEX), has donated NLe32,000 (Le32 million) worth of Metrolex-F medicines to the Connaught Hospital.
Handing over the medical consignment to the hospital’s management, Dr Mohamed Bawoh (Superintending pharmacist) and Sallaymatu Bio Kamara, (Pharmacist in charge), the Country Manager of LUEX, V. Srinivasan (Srini) said, ‘Metrolex-F medicine is one among the best and effective medicines that are key to “lock” infective diarrhea patents’.
The donation, according to V. Srinivasan (Srini), is part of their company’s continued support to boost the health sector in Sierra Leone with medical supplies.
Srini said the medicine is manufactured in Ghana by UNICHEM Company, which is LUEX’s parent pharmaceutical company, adding that it is also the leading multinational pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Ghana.
He revealed that through the efficient and effectiveness on health service delivery in Ghana for the past years, including 2023, the company has received awards as the best pharmaceutical company in Ghana.
Srini said the donated medicines to Connaught Hospital will help the hospital’s management to save patients with diarrhea and other related sicknesses.
He stressed that, as a company, they thought it prudent that, to give back to society is the best, as they are always thinking of the vulnerable masses especially the adults and children who are in dire need of medical help.
- Srinivasan (Srini) expressed gratitude to the management of the hospital for their hospitality and their work to save lives, going as far as pledging to continue supporting the people of Sierra Leone in terms of heath service delivery.
Receiving the medical items, the Superintending Pharmacist at Connaught Hospital, Dr Mohamed Bawoh, and Pharm Sallaymatu (Pharmacist in charge) expressed thanks and appreciation to Balani and Sons and partner LUEX for supporting the hospital through medical supplies.
According to Dr Bawoh, they are always in dire need of medical support at the hospital, adding that such humanitarian gesture from Balani and Sons is needed at all times.
He said as the hospital’s management they appreciate the gesture donating this huge medical assistance and assured Balani and Sons through its partner LUEX Company of using the donated medicines for their intended purposes.
Dr Bawoh however pleaded with other humanitarian companies and organisations to emulate the sterling example of Balani and Sons to save the lives of the underprivileged in hospitals across Sierra Leone.
