Bandset Crowned Champions Of AOD George Memorial Trophy

Bandset Cricket Club were crowned champions of the maiden edition of the AOD George Memorial Cricket Championship for U13 boys, after they triumphed by nine runs over Board House Cricket Club.

The final, which was played on Thursday, 13th May 2021 at the Kingtom Cricket Oval, was an epitome of class, as masterpiece cricket was displayed in a colourful manner. The zest, shown by the young talented players, convinced spectators that the future is bright for Sierra Leone cricket.

In a bid to encourage the young talented players, as well as promote education amongst them, school bags and other cricket equipment were given to players who won individual awards as a sign of honour and prestige. The players were awarded based on their individual performance in the competition.

Michael Kabia, of Board House, was named the tournament’s Best Batsman as he scored 79 runs. Charles Kamara, of Bandset, was the Bowler of the Tournament as he took 8 marvellous wickets, while Andrew A. Kamara, of Big Barracks, won the tournament’s Best Fielder.

The most prestigious individual award, the Player of the Tournament, was awarded to Charles Kamara of Bandset who scored 41 runs and took 8 spectacular wickets.
