Information reaching this medium has revealed that there is a serious pressure on Ernest Koroma and his immediate executive to change the Party’s leadership in Parliament on the grounds that they are betraying the aspirations of the APC.
Our source says, some senior executives of the APC were initially against the appointment of Chernor Maju Bah as leader of the APC in Parliament because they had envisaged that he would not have the finesse to take on the SLPP and also adequately protect APC MP’s.
Manley Spaine, a seasoned Lawyer and a trusted APC loyalist, according to our source, was the party’s choice to have provided the much required leadership based on his experience and political base.
This was largely not possible our source continued due to the fact that, Ernest Koroma and his immediate executives, Minkailu Mansaray and Osman Yansaneh had later betrayed this decision and appointed Chernor Maju Bah just like they handpicked Dr. Samura Kamara for the March, 2018 elections.
This, our source added, has not gone down well with the rest of the party and what is happening today in Parliament was not a surprise to many, especially with Chernor Maju Bah in charge.
Chernor Maju Bah, many grassroots supporters say, has failed to provide a visionary leadership for his party.
He has failed to act even in the midst of unconstitutionality, barbarism and other forms of challenges his party members are facing, a senior party stalwart fumed.
Chericoco has boycotted or literally not supported most of the decisions taken by the APC MPs including the walk-out on President Bio during the State of the Nation’s Address and many others.
Our source concluded by indicating that pressure is now mounting on Ernest Koroma and his cohorts to get the Party to change Chernoh Maju Bah in Parliament.
The SLPP are very much comfortable with the Chericoco Leadership and have gone ahead in punishing APC loyalists like Hon. Lahai Marrah of Koinadugu who has ferociously defended the APC in the face of the intimidations and unconstitutionality, he has taken the fight to the SLPP leadership in Parliament discountenancing moves by the SLPP to remove him as Chairman of the Parliamentary Legislative Committee in Parliament and also his membership of other committees.
Hon. Lahai has been deprived a lot of privileges and opportunities in Parliament largely because he has stood his ground to support what is right for the people of Sierra Leone.
