The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Member of Parliament, who is serving as the Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Hon. Bashiru Sillikie, has, on Thursday 25th June, 2020 confirmed in the Well of Parliament that most appointees of President Julius Maada Bio are running after Members of Parliament for approval but they do not perform in their offices.
According to Hon. Bashiru Sillikie, the appointees, especially ladies, have enjoyed a lot of support from the Appointment Committee in Parliament, adding that the nation will be reading the government’s score card in 2023.
He said the President have bestowed a lot of confidence on appointees, which is why he has appointed them in various offices to work for the government to succeed. Hon. Bashiru Sillikie urged the appointees to prove the government right.
The MP however pointed out that no MP will go to beg any appointee in their various offices. All they need to do is to open their doors to MPs as they perform their oversight function.
Hon Bashiru Sillikie told appointees that there will be no room for failure, informing that the President is always ready to change and sack anyone that is not ready to perform his/her duty bestowed upon him.
He revealed that MPs will soon ensure that they monitored all appointees in their various offices. He advised appointees to work for the people and warned them not to succumb to blackmailing.
