Information reaching the nightwatch newspaper reveals that that the people of Bo are getting angry and frustrated over the way and manner the Regional Crime Officer, Bo West Division, is treating cases reported at the police.
The Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Mohamed Kallon, aka Agbata, has been accused of throwing most serious matters under the carpet. Reports say the bundles of allegations that have been levied against Superintendent Mohamed Kallon, for several months now, have made him an uneasy man.
The Police Superintendent has been accused of bribery, holding a kangaroo court, compromising cases of criminal offences and unfair treatment of complainants.
There has been a popular outcry since Superintendent Mohamed Kallon assumed office in Bo. His corrupt activities have come under the spotlight, to the extent that local journalists, within the Bo municipality, have also decided to enquire into his activities.
It will be recalled that on January 4th 2019, at about 12:00 hours, an arrest of one hundred and fifty jerry cans of diesel was made along Kandeh Town, Towama Road, by some vigilant youths in the area. The diesel is believed to have been stolen from the Sierra Rutile Company.
The suspects, according to the reports, and the exhibits of one hundred and fifty jerry cans of diesel were immediately handed over to the police, who arrived at the scene with Superintendent Mohamed Kallon in charge.
The Regional Crime officer is reportedly said to have discharged all suspects and all the exhibits, allegedly on the instructions of Mr. Kapri Kamara, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Southern Region.
According to some sources, the Police have allegedly received a huge chunk of bribe for the matter.
Sources close to the police have claimed that the Regional Crime Officer discharged most matters reported to the Police. He does not charge them to court as required by law.
A case in point is one Martin Momoh, who was arrested with Abubakarr Moody, after one of them (Martin Momoh) claimed to be the son of President Julius Maada Bio. He was accused of going around exhorting money from prominent people in the southern region.
The report furthered that the unprofessional behavior of the regional crime officer, coupled with his maladministration, has been reported to the office of the Regional Commander, south, AIG Kapri Kamara. But it would appear that the office of the AIG is turning a blind eye to the excesses of the Regional Crime Officer.
A group of journalists had approached the Regional Commander South, AIG Kapri Kamara, to discuss the corrupt allegations levied so far against the Regional Crime Officer in his very presence.
Superintendent Mohamed Kallon, instead of clearing his name by responding to the allegations, decided to create an unfavorable scenario, quarrelling with the journalists in the AIG’s office. He accused the journalists of being in the habit of blackmailing people. The meeting ended up in chaos and Superintendent Mohamed Kallon could not respond to the allegations.
The inability of the Regional Commander, south, AIG Kapri Kamara, to put a stop to the Regional Crime Officer’s excesses has provoked reactions from most law abiding citizens of Bo.
