Julius Sylvester Jabati, a business man made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road court No.1, on two count charges to wit Conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and obtaining money by false pretences contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on a date between 10th May to 28th July, 2025, at No. 152 Kissy Road in the Western Area of Freetown, with intent to defraud, conspired with other persons unknown to defraud Mohamed Kannie Kamara the sum of One Hundred and Ninety- One Thousand, Seven Hundred Leones (Le 191,700), by falsely pretending that he will facilitate an overseas travelling program for him to France or United States of America for a job opportunity knowing same to be false.
Count two further stated that on the same date and place, the defendant with intent to defraud conspired with other persons unknown to defraud Mohamed Kannie Kamara the sum of One Hundred and Ninety-One Thousand, Seven Hundred Leones (Le 191,700), by falsely pretending that he will facilitate an overseas travelling program for Mohamed Kannie Kamara to France or the United States of America for a job opportunity knowing same to be false.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant no plea was taken.
Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai sought for a short adjournment date.
Meanwhile Magistrate Jah granted bail to the defendant in the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (Le 250,000) with two Sureties in like sum and that they must be Sierra Leoneans naturally resident within the jurisdiction, must produce valid identity cards depicting their names and addresses in Freetown and that the bail must be approved by the Deputy Assistant Master and Registrar. The matter was adjourned to 23rd January, 2026.
