By Janet A. Sesay

Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Court No.1 on Monday 27th July, 2020 sent one Sarah Koroma to High Court for further trial as police alleged that she attempted to sell a five-year-old child the sum Le25million at Big Market on Wallace Johnson in the heart of Freetown.

Prior to committal, Magistrate Bonnie recalled that the prosecution called five witnesses including the mother of the child and all the evidence of the witnesses were corroborated and the accused also admitted attempting to sell the child.

The Magistrate said after looking at the entire evidence before her, she was satisfied that the prosecution had proved their case beyond all reasonable doubts and as a result, the accused was fit to stand trial at the High Court. She therefore committed the matter to the Freetown High Court for further trial without bail.

The accused was arraigned on two counts of child stealing and human trafficking contrary to law.

The indictment States that the accused on 11th May and 10th June, 2020 at 37 Mafara Waterloo stole a five-year-old child against the will of her parents.

The indictment continues that the accused on Wednesday 19th June, 2020 at Big Market, Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown trafficked a child below eighteen years, to wit five years.
