WHY EXTRA CHARGE OF LE150,000 FOR METER AT EDSA?

City Peep was taken aback to learn that EDSA is requesting an extra Le150,000 from customers without receipt for meters added to the official amount of Le705,000.Where are these monies going to? City Peep wants to know. Are these monies official? If yes why are customers not issued with receipts for this so-called contractor fees?

This is a new direction, ohhhn! We want answers. City Peep will visit EDSZA again in the coming week to see whether this is still happening.

WHAT IS GOING ON AT THE MINES MINISTRY?

City Peep wants to know how the old man is running the Mines Ministry, and we have a number of questions for him:

  1. What did he discover when he decided to terminate the mining licenses of several mining companies, especially with regards how the NMA has managed these mining licenses?

If we are to go by the reasons advanced by your Ministry for withdrawing the license, then heads should roll at the NMA because of the fact that either they have been conniving with these mining companies for them to continue to keep these licenses, depriving other potential investors, or they have reneged on their responsibilities to effectively manage the activities of these mining companies.

  1. Why has the Minister been silent over an accusation by a C4C MP as published in the Global Times Newspaper that, there are still many Chinese companies illegally operating in Kono, which, according to him, the Minister has knowledge of. In fact, nothing has been done; instead a few other Chinese companies were arrested leaving the others.

These allegations, coming from a lawmaker, are very serious and the ministry has kept sealed lips over them. Please let us get the Minister’s position on this.

CAN THE SIERR LEONE POLICE BE ACCOUNTABLE, AT LEAST?

It is a norm, across the globe, that police organizations, will update their citizens when investigating matters that have public concern, but not our police, in this part of the world, who think that everything about police investigations should be shrouded in secrecy.

We agree that certain aspects should be kept secret during the investigations mainly on the grounds that it will prejudice the investigations, but it is the business of the police to give their citizens a daily update on investigations.

We want to know what has happened to the 31 Chinese who were arrested in Tonkolili and the alleged murder case of the two kids at Wellington involving the comedian Sarah D. Great and others.

The police owe the public an obligation to update them on the status of these investigations.
