CITY PEEP

Must read

DEPUTY MINISTER & THE FORTY THIEVES

Where a theft occurs and there is a raid or enquiry some escape. And so it is that one former Deputy Minister has been allegedly indicted for the theft of a vehicle.

It will be recalled that when the SLPP government came to power hundreds of government vehicles were missing allegedly driven to Guinea.

That was not the case when the SLPP handed over power to the APC.

How just will it be for indicting this single woman when hundreds have not been asked to account for their missing vehicles!

It’s like Alie Baba being caught and forty thieves escape. This time around they are more than forty.

THAT FERRY DISASTER

Some disasters are natural and others are man-made. The ferry disaster was caused by such negligence as to amount to manslaughter. It would appear that some people are so dense as to think that all those limitations of weight are useless.

As a result they just ignore them and hope in vain that nothing will happen. But are there not monitoring officers paid by the government of Sierra Leone? Now innocent lives which did not know anything about weight limits have been lost. This is a syndrome, especially in African countries, as appeared in Tanzania recently. Some people should be charged to court, sacked and jailed.

V.P.A GHOST NEWS EDITOR?

It looked like a joke when the President in his keynote speech at the inaugural media said he was reliably informed by the grapevine that Vice-President Juldeh is the ghost news editor for Sierra Express Media which put out a story in June this year complaining that food commodity prices were skyrocketing with the banner headline “Sierra Leone Turns Hell”. This allegation which was said as a joke is too serious as to need clarification.

It is not part of the schedule of duties of the Vice –President to be opposing the President, but he cannot be sacked in the manner of Sam Sumana. A head of state has too many ears some of which are false ears.

BEST AWARDS DILEMMA

The yardsticks by which people and institutions are declared as best vary.

Each evaluator has also its best person or institution. Thus it is for instance that former Director General of the SLRSA, Dr. Sarah Bendu, has been regarded as the best CEO by Diaspora Focus while she has been sacked by the government. Now whose assessment are we to go by? It is rather quizzical.
