NEW DIRECTION CONVOYS
How a government that sets out to cut down expenditure can be so spindrift as to let every other government official have a convoy is just unbelievable. Under the Old Direction only the President and Vice President were entitled. Paopa thinks that they were not serious. Therefore they entitle whosever will have a convoy. Incidentally let it be known that a convoy should have armed protection. CP may ask against whom they are unnecessarily protecting themselves from as inconsequential officials? They want to feel big and they are encouraged by weak authority. Waste of fuel and manpower and unnecessary causes of traffic jams. Some Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments would have their own convoys to add to the bedlam. Diplomats would be watching with disbelief.
With so much armed protection for all sorts of people don’t be surprised that militias would soon be formed to link up with others elsewhere.
Remove these convoys now except the traditional and constitutional ones!

FUNERAL RECEPTION HALLS CLOSED
Funerals have since time immemorial been occasions for sorrow for the bereaved and festival for those unconcerned. The occasion usually ends with a reception during which mourners and hypocritical sympathizers are feted sometimes lavishly. Advantage is taken of this by starving citizens who flock around.
This time round in his funeral address the preacher ordered that the doors to the reception hall be closed until after the burial. It caught the hungry sympathizers off guard. And when the burial ended only mourners with the hymn slots were admitted to the hall. One only hopes that this would lead to a new trend to be copied by other churches.
Earlier in another funeral service the preacher railed against the practice of vagabonds dancing with hearses at funeral processions especially with the death of very old persons. He said it was a practice incompatible with any sympathy. CP hopes that other priest would follow suit. The preacher said Muslims don’t behave that way and they are superior in that regard.

RELUCTANCE TO GO ON LEAVE
Annual leave is granted to all public servants and some private establishments and is meant for relaxation and time to pursue personal affairs which cannot be easily done during normal working hours. While it is looked forward to by many some public officials are reluctant to go on leave and accumulate it. Some have not gone on leave for years and would only do so on retirement.
Guess why! It is those who are accumulating ‘mass mass’ during working hours who are not willing to go on leave. The Anti-Corruption Commission should concentrate on those ‘’hard workers’’ to see if they are not the most corrupt. They are not workaholics. Far be it from them.
