Side Effects Of COVID-19
For every happening on earth there are side effects that may be good or bad though they may not be equal. It is obvious that COVID-19 may be 95 percent bad but five percent good.
Before COVID-19 travelling world-wide was rampant and in Sierra Leone there was criticism of the President who was seen as travelling ‘fiti-fata.’ His excuse was that by travelling he was able to get institutions and/or individuals to invest in the country. But the critics argued that it was not necessary for the President to travel in person to attract investors. There are other state functionaries like Ambassadors and their staff to carry out those functions.
Alternatively the President could talk to anyone on line. He simply seemed to enjoy travelling during which he could receive lavish receptions and avoid the monotony of being at State House.
Another side effect of COVID-19 is bringing to a halt illegal emigration and easing the work of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). In spite of the fact that some of them died or suffered great hardship during their voyages through the Mediterranean Sea and journeys through the Sahara Desert.
Some of them have been caught in mid-sea not knowing whether to continue their journeys or return. This is a biting commentary on the conditions of living in the land of iron and diamonds.
Girl Friends As Press Attaches?
The Foreign Service for developed countries is very useful as they use their officials as a conduit to aid developing countries. Some developing countries including Sierra Leone have converted the service to a resort for patronage.
Even developed countries have Ambassadors at Large because of the expense of having embassies in every country where they have business to do.
A needy country like Sierra Leone is on the verge of sending scores of girls to the Foreign Service as Press Attaches with nothing or little to do at fat salaries. These are obviously girl friends of party loyalists who are about to be sent abroad at the expense of the state. What the President does not realize is that by pleasing a few party loyalists he is displeasing the rest of the millions of the populace who are expected to vote for him to earn a second term. Perhaps he does not know what happened to the last President of Ghana.
SHIFTING CURFEW HOURS
Curfew hours are necessary especially for lawless citizens. These hours are closely aligned to the working hours of the public service and even the private sector. But the government can alter the hours without adverse effect on production.
The government can shift the curfew hours from 10pm to 6pm and the working hours from 10am to 5pm. The number of working hours will not be affected. It will only be a little more convenient for public service commuters who have to travel from the rural areas.
The executive arm of government tends to feel that they are infallible. In other words they play God. They feel that some of us who vote for them are idiots and therefore do not listen to our suggestions until they are kicked out. Ask the APC!
Prayer and Fasting
There are people who have never prayed and fasted. They survive more than some of us who pray and fast. CCSL declared 7 days of prayer and fasting. Who heard? Who obeyed?
That was before the index case. People were praying that the Coronavirus should not enter Sierra Leone as if Sierra Leone had a special blessing from God. Already we have thoroughly misused the blessing of natural and mineral resources that countries like Israel and Singapore do not have. So were those optimists thinking that God so loved Sierra Leone that he insulated the country from COVID-19 when all the surrounding countries had the disease? Seke!
God has three ways of answering prayer namely by answering, YES, No or WAIT. What had Sierra Leone done really to deserve exception from COVID-19? Is it as a result of squandering billions of Ebola funds? Do they know that in countries like North Korea that have human beings as their god are having little or no COVID-19? Where is praying in those ungodly states?
PRICE AND MARKET FORCES
Government for control price ‘dem.’ ‘Noto’ so senior man? If government forces traders to sell at certain prices there is a tendency for goods to go underground which is why government allows people to sell according to market forces of demand and supply.
This brings CP to fuel prices that have been going up and down lately. There has been this senseless talk by people mainly opposed to any government in power that prices never go down in Sierra Leone when once they go up.
Within months we have experienced the rise and fall of fuel prices giving the lie to detractors of government. They did not realize in the first place that fuel is imported and that as a result government cannot dictate the prices. Moreover it is not government per se that determines or imports the commodity but a special authority. So the myth that prices can never go down in Sierra Leone has been exploded. This is not to say that profiteering should not be checked. Mercenaries should be tracked and brought to book.
CATHOLIC PEDOPHILES
The good Lord created man and woman as the only means of procreation and the continuity of the human race. A bunch of people or a species of humans have been thinking that they know better than God. Therefore they not only carry out sexual activities within the same sex but they have extended that demonic activity to children.
