CORNELIUS DEVEAUX STILL GASSING FREELY
Some people can hardly change. According to the Krio parable, “monkey nor ba lef im black han”. So it is with the character known as Cornelius Deveaux.
Just after the elections, he challenged the National Elections Watch (NEW) as having no right to say that there would be a run-off. He was again on air stating that in the run-off the APC would have learnt about all the ways in which the SLPP rigged the election. That man scarcely talks sense.
Intelligent readers would realize that elections are rigged by incumbents who appoint elections officials. Just how the opposition would have access to infiltrate the Elections Commission to rig elections is an enigma to be unraveled only by the ignoramus of a Deveaux.
PRAYER STEP I
It would appear that for the 2012 elections Christians did not take it seriously in spite of the clear evidence that the ruling APC was employing fetish agents from abroad to win the elections. This time round they have arisen from their religious apathy and acted accordingly. There were prayers in churches and all-night prayers at stadia that have yielded positive results. The second step of the prayers for the run-off will be hopefully answered on the 27th instant, in Jesus name.
CHARLIE BOY’S DISMAL PERFORMANCE
Charlie was the man of PMDC who helped the APC to win the 2007 elections. In the 2012 elections he had no seat. It was all a 7-day wonder. Lately he realized that Ernest Koroma is not reliable.
‘E faint late’. He is such a nonentity in Sierra Leone politics these days that in the March 7 elections he was beaten even by the rebel outfit known as the RUFP. The man has outlived his usefulness and he should quit the public scene and confine himself to his chambers and the law courts.
THE FATE OF KANDEH YUMKELLA
Had he known, would he have resigned his lucrative job at the United Nations at the time he did? Probably not. ‘Had I known’ is a cliché that always comes unfortunately last. He went through trials and tribulations at the SLPP headquarters, including questions about his membership. He formed the NGC less than one year ago but he was still able to make a significant showing.
The truth is that unlike France, where the vast majority (almost all) understands issues because of their education, here they are steeped in voting on tribal and regional lines. They also vote on sentimental lines, which explain the difference between Emmanuel Macron’s success and the lackluster performance of NGC.
In any case the NGC is a force to reckon with and could be king maker. Whether he can allow himself to suffer the indignity to be bought by the APC is the $64 million question.
OJUKUTU MACAULEY’S SKEWED JOURNALISM
All the huff and puff of Winston Ojukutu Macauley, who was erstwhile B.B.C. reporter, is full of sound and fury signifying nothing. He only impresses himself rather than the public. The man is not even honest. He was last year involved in a scam. That’s the man who wrote in the front page of his anaemic We Yone of March 22nd instead of 22nd March (a mark of his deficient education) that “In 2007 there was no electricity or water supply in the capital city, and Freetown was considered to be the darkest city in the world, infrastructure dilapidated and ramshackle. Roads were filled with potholes and thick mists of dust that rose with the passing of every vehicle coated building and pole”. He wrote more gibberish too irrelevant to be published here. That’s the man with such a devious character who has been conning respectable citizens of Freetown to become their Mayor. Over their dead bodies!
UNGRATEFUL VOTERS
This is a government that has been passing some bills under Certificates of Urgency to save time. The people did not appreciate this. Some agreements are not even taken to Parliament to save time.
People were tasked to pay for an uncompleted toll road to help the Chinese. The Wilkinson road is the most expensive in the world to prove to the world that we are in a land of gold, iron and diamonds. We can afford it. People should appreciate the APC next time.
