The Western Area Football Association ends its Division One League campaign with a grand final at KT Field between Bhantal Football Club and Correctional Sports Club.
A league which started with 26 clubs on 6th August, 2023 climaxed with a 7-6 post match penalty shootout win by the officers. It was a fantastic final which saw the two clubs goalless throughout the 90th minute.
The finalists – Bhantal FC and Correctional Sports are this year’s Western Region qualifiers to the SLFA National Playoffs due to commence on 27th September, this year in Kono and Makeni districts. At the end of the finals, WAFA awarded trophies and medals to the champions and runners up.
Correctional Sports Osman Thomas Munu wins Goalkeeper of the tournament, Abu Bakarr Kamara of Bhantal FC wins best defender, and Abdulai Kargbo of Correctional Sports wins highest goal scorer and best player awards netting  10 goals out of 14 matches.
The grand final ceremony was witnessed by Vice President-1 of Sierra Leone Football Association, Harold Nat Johnson, WAFA Chairman Pastor Philip Buck, Former SLFA Team Manager Christian Dauda, Youth Football Cordinator, Alimamy Kuriash Conteh, Urban District Vice Chairman Salim Pokawa, Swimming and Water Pool Association President Mohamed Turay, Premier League Board Secretary, Sampha Hassan Kamara and a host of WAFA executive and football stakeholders in the Western Region.
