Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) has addressed a misleading and outdated video currently circulating on social media platforms, purporting to show members of the National Senior Men’s Cricket Team being held at the Lungi International Airport over unpaid airport taxes.

In a press release dated Monday, June 30th, 2025, Cricket Sierra Leone categorically state that:

The incident portrayed in the video is not recent. It occurred over two years ago and does not reflect the current operations or standards upheld by Cricket Sierra Leone.

The claims made in the video are entirely false and misleading. Cricket Sierra Leone has always fulfilled its financial responsibilities, including all travel-related expenses for players and officials, domestically and internationally. Our records confirm that no team under our authority has ever been left stranded due to unpaid taxes or logistics mishandling.

Cricket Sierra Leone is far removed from the incident in question. It is unfortunate that outdated and context less content is being recycled in an attempt to tarnish the image of the sport and its governing body.

We urge the public, media outlets, and our stakeholders, locally and internationally, to disregard the video and any associated commentary. Cricket Sierra Leone remains committed to transparency, professionalism, and the continuous development of cricket in Sierra Leone.
