Defense Lawyer Wants Attempted Suicide Matter discharged

Defense Counsel M. P George has made an application before Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma of the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1 in an ongoing suicide matter.
Sahr Alpha the accused in the matter is charged with the offence of attempted suicide.
The defense counsel made this application pursuant to section 18 of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965.
She continued that several adjournments have been taken in the instance of the prosecution with a view for the exhibit Clerk to avail himself to testify in the matter.
Police Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP, Osman Mohamed Bangura vehemently objected to bail on the grounds that he has so far led three witnesses.
He acknowledged that he still has the exhibit clerk to testify and assured the court that the clerk will be available in the next adjourned date.The magistrate granted his application.
The accused was before the court on one count of attempted suicide, contrary to law.
The police charged sheet states that Sahr Alpha, on Sunday 29th September 2019,at Cabala Town in the Freetown judicial district in Western Area, attempted to kill himself.
The accused was granted 50 million Leones (Le 50,000,000) with two sureties. He was not able to meet the bail conditions and hence was remanded.
