Diana Konomanyi Peace Tour Concludes On a Positive Note in Kono

By Tamba Lebbie (Son of the Soil)

Iron lady, Finda Diana Konomanyi, a leading opposition figure and member of the All People’s Congress (APC), concluded her nationwide peace tour on Saturday, 28 June 2025, with a significant visit to her home district of Kono. The tour, aimed at promoting reconciliation and unity within the APC following the party’s defeat in the 2023 elections, culminated in a well-attended rally that underscored her deep connection with the people of Kono.

During the event, former Resident Minister, Eastern Region and now Chairman of the Former Ministers of APC (FOMINA), Karamoh Kabba praised Konomanyi as Kono’s “audacity of hope,” highlighting her role as not just a political leader but also a motherly figure devoted to the district’s welfare and progress.

Addressing supporters in both Krio and the local Kono language, Lady Diana Konomanyi openly sought forgiveness for the mistakes made by the APC during the 2023 election period, acknowledging the challenges and setbacks faced by the party. She emphasized that learning from past errors and fostering unity were essential steps toward reclaiming political strength and success.

“Let us come together as one family,” Konomanyi appealed. “Party unity is the surest path to winning the 2028 elections.”

She went on to express heartfelt gratitude to party loyalists in Kono and nationwide, reiterating her conviction that only the APC truly has the district’s development interests at heart. She contrasted this commitment with ongoing challenges faced by the district, particularly the Koidu Holding saga.

Lady Diana Konomanyi expressed deep disappointment over the Koidu Holding controversy, which has led to significant job losses and reduced incomes for many residents of Koidu City. She called on the company’s management to urgently reengage with government officials to find a resolution that would restore employment and economic stability.

In a broader call for peace and cooperation, Konomanyi urged all political stakeholders in Kono to set aside personal differences and egos. She emphasized that unity and cohesion within the APC were critical to building a strong foundation for the upcoming elections.

Lady Diana Konomanyi appealed to Dr. Samura Kamara and his supporters, who have been campaigning for electoral justice following the 2023 elections, to move beyond past grievances and join ranks with the party in preparation for the 2028 elections.

The visit and the messages delivered by Diana Konomanyi have been widely regarded as a pivotal moment for the APC’s reconciliation process and efforts to rebuild grassroots support in Kono. As the party looks forward to the next electoral cycle, her peace tour may serve as the catalyst for renewed hope and unity within the APC.
