The Deputy Director of Education, Western Area Rural District, Mr. H.B. Kargbo, has told this medium of the commencement of distribution of the free and quality education assorted school materials. The distribution started effective Monday the 25th February and that the process will end today Wednesday 27th February,2019.
He continued now the distribution team comprises of officials from the Western Area Rural District Council and the Western Area Rural District Education Office.
Mr. Kargbo disclosed that, for the purpose of effective and efficient distribution, the District was divided into six zones; and each has a hub wherein school heads will go and collect their own materials.
The different zones, he noted, are Waterloo Zone 1, which has its hub at Hastings Rural Education Committee Primary School; Waterloo Zone 2- has its hub at the Rural Education Committee School, Bassa Town; Koya Zone 1- has its hub at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School in Newton; York Zone 2 -has its hub at the Rural Education Committee School, Nibat 13 Goderich and the Rural Education Committee School Regent for the Mountain Area.
The Deputy Director concluded that the distribution is going on well and school heads are turning up at the centers to collect their school materials.
Mr. Kargbo also disclosed that they are not receiving complains, because school heads have complied by not issuing taxes on parents to cover other charges in the respective schools.
He concluded by intimating this medium that they are yet to receive any information around the approval of schools and teachers, noting that the process is on course and they would make any approval within the District public when they get information from the Ministry.
The Sierra Leone Police is not part of the distribution process this time round. This is because they have not expressed interest to join the process, Mr. Kargbo noted.
