In what has been roundly described by members and supporters of the All People’s Congress (APC) party as timely and needful, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura on Thursday, 6th November, 2025 doled out a generous donation of One Billion, Five Hundred Million Old Leones and 400 bags of rice towards the party activities and the rehabilitation of the historic Bai Bureh Hall in Port Loko.
The event which took place at the APC Party Headquarters in Freetown was graced by Senior Executive Members and party members and supporters.
Dr. Bangura maintained that his gesture stems from his long held commitment to the development of the party and his desire to continue the legacy of the late former Vice President, Sorie Ibrahim Koroma, a native of Port Loko and one of the APC’s founding pillars.
“A few months ago, I pledged to support the rehabilitation works on the Bai Bureh hall in Port Loko, for which I am heartily donating Five Hundred Million Old Leones. I believe it is a right thing to do because Port Loko holds deep political and historical values for the APC,” Dr. Bangura stated, noting further: “I carry the name Ibrahim that which an illustrious son and key pillar once carried- Sorie Ibrahim Koroma. Today, I am fulfilling that pledge as I stand on that pedigree. What I am donating today also goes as additional support for the smooth running of our party activities nationwide.”
Dr. Bangura therefore announced an additional One Billion Old Leones to the National Executive to support the production of party identification cards (ID cards), pointing out that the initiative is vital to strengthening the party’s internal structures and membership management. He also went ahead and pledged 500 bags of cement for a similar project in Kambia District and 400 bags of rice for the party’s national structures.
“It is my moral responsibility to give back to this party that has nurtured me. I didn’t join the APC; I was born into the APC,” Dr. Bangura clarified.
In his remarks, Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh, the Acting National Chairman and Leader of the APC, expressed gratitude to Dr. Bangura for his selfless contributions and described the gestures as “a true act of patriotism and party loyalty.”
“We appreciate you Dr. Ibrahim Bangura for demonstrating leadership through action. Your donations will go a long way in advancing our preparations and strengthening our operations at both national and regional levels,” Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh acknowledged.
Ambassador Yansanneh pointed out that the APC has always thrived on collective sacrifice, and that the example set out by Dr. Bangura should be an inspiration to other members and flagbearer aspirants to support the party through the right channels.
Also speaking at the event, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Sidi Yaya Tunis lauded Dr. Bangura for his generosity and commitment, stressing that the party must take ownership of its own development and sustain its internal structures.
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure the effective running of our party,” Tunis stated, and described Dr. Bangura’s contributions as “timely” while encouraging others to emulate his spirit of commitment, accountability and unity.
Additionally, APC Chairman for Karene District, Chairman Adikalie thanked Dr. Bangura for extending his support gestures to the North-West Region, mentioning that in spite Port Loko being integral to the APC in both its history and support, it is Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s second home.
Chairman Adekalie assured the national executive that the Bai Bureh hall rehabilitation works will soon start.
