Driver Remanded for Larceny Charge

A driver, who identified himself as Ibrahim Jalloh, on Friday, 21st March, 2025 made his first appearance before the Principal Magistrate of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1, Magistrate Sahr Kekura for alleged vehicle theft and was remanded in custody.

Jalloh was arraigned before the court on a count charge of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The charge sheet indicates that Jalloh, sometimes in December 2024 at Furniture, Allen Town in Freetown, stole one Rav-4 Toyota jeep with registration number ANY 386 valued at (USD 1, 400) One Thousand Four Hundred United States Dollars equivalent to (NLE 33, 600.00) Thirty-Three Thousand, Six Hundred New Leones and some physical cash of One Thousand, Eight Hundred New Leones (NLE 1, 800) all totaling Thirty-five Thousand, Four Hundred New Leones (NLe 35,400) property of Ishmail Kamel Zayat.

Accused Jalloh pleaded not guilty to the offense after the charge was read and explained to him.

The Prosecutor, Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai sought for an adjournment indicating that he has not got proper conference with the witness.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to the 28th March 2025 for hearing.
