David Fomba (driver) yesterday testified before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Court No.1 against the accused, Emmanuel Sesay, whom police alleged to have maliciously wounded the complainant and caused him grievous bodily harm.

Led in evidence by A.S.P. Daboh, the witness recognized the accused and recalled 28th May 2021.

According to him, on that day, he was invited to a birthday party; and around nine going to ten, he was sitting in a corner holding his phone when the accused attempted to snatch it from him.

“I held his hand, but while struggling with the accused, an unknown person came to the scene and scratched my face. I also held his hand,” he told the bench.

During the struggle, the accused took a knife from his pocket and stabbed him on his left hand. Blood started oozing out. It was during that time that the unknown person escaped.

“When police officers arrived at the scene, I was still holding the accused, but he took a bottle and hit me on my head, which left me falling on the ground and lying unconscious,” David Fomba continued.

He said he later regained consciousness at the Akon Police Station, where he was issued with a police medical request form to see the police doctor.

“I later returned the endorsed medical report and made a statement to the police,” he said.

The accused was unrepresented in court, but he cross examined the witness himself.

The accused was arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Kekura on two counts of conspiracy and wounding with intent, which omissions are all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

The particulars of offence state that the accused, on Friday 28th May 2021, in Freetown, conspired together with other persons unknown to wound David Fomba in a manner occasioning him actual bodily harm.

The accused was remanded and the matter comes up on the 12th July, 2021.
