Traders at Abacha Street, Fouray Bay Road, Kissy Road and its environs have blasted the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) for the pot holes at the Eastern police Clock Tower which they referred to as a death trap.
Abacha Street traders whispered to the Nightwatch that trucks, tricycles and other commercial transports have found it difficult to ply as a result of the bad condition of the road which they attributed to the heavy downpour of rains in the past days.
Testimonies are that many vehicles have lost their balance while trying to find their way out of the biggest pot hole thereby posing danger to pedestrians and street traders.
They also intimated that the said pot holes cannot be unconnected with the heavy traffic at Abacha Street in the evening hours.
The Regional engineer, Western region Community, Jimmy said he was on the ground on Wednesday 25th July, 2018 to ascertain the level of damage and its root cause.
The Regional engineer who refused to disclose his full identity to this medium continued that materials are currently at hand to fill the pot holes to make the street accessible to both vehicles and pedestrians.
Engineer Jimmy cited one of the drainages as the cause for the overflow of water to the streets and said they are waiting on the rains to subside before the said drainage will be cleared and the maintenance of pot holes commences.
