Abdulai Vamboi, who is also an electrician and businessman, and Abdulai Kamara have made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2, for the offences of burglary and larceny, which are all contrary to Section 25 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the police, Abdulai Vamboi, on Wednesday 6th January, 2021, at No. 2 King Street in Freetown, broke and entered into the dwelling house of Daniel Parkinson Boima (complainant) and stole certain valuable properties, including one HP computer laptop, valued at one thousand United States dollars ($100000) (equivalent to ten million Leones (Le10,000,000), 4G modem, valued at eight hundred thousand Leones (Le800,000), and other valuable properties, which all worth fifteen million eight hundred thousand Leones (Le15,800,000).
The charge sheet also adduces that Abdulai Kamara, on the same date and address, received one Techno mobile phone, which is valued at two million eight hundred thousand Leones (Le2,800,000), knowing same to have been stolen.
The accused pleaded not guilty. At this juncture, Ishmael Saccoh, who is representing the 2nd accused, applied for bail on behalf of his client. He added that his client is a businessman and breadwinner of his family.
Lawyer Saccoh said the 2nd accused would not interfere with the prosecution witness or witnesses if granted bail.
He made his application pursuant to Section 79 (2) and (3) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965 in accordance with Section 5 of the 2018 bail regulation.
The accused was granted ten million Leones (Le10,000,000) bail with two sureties, who should be resident within the jurisdiction. Bail conditions should be approved by the deputy Master and Registrar.
The 1st accused was remanded at the Male Correctional Centre, Pademba Road in Freetown and the matter will come up again on the 24th May, 2021.
