End of an Era… Rodney Michael Exits Mighty Blackpool As Chairman

Rodney Michael has officially resigned as Chairman of Mighty Blackpool Football Club, bringing to an end a leadership tenure that began in September 2021.

In a statement posted on his official social media platform, Michael described serving the club as a great honour and expressed appreciation to the club’s elders, supporters, former players, executive members, technical staff and players for their trust, support and cooperation throughout his time in office.

His resignation was formally submitted during an emergency Executive Committee meeting held at his residence. Committee members accepted his decision, although they expressed reservations about his departure. The committee also indicated that key stakeholders, including club elders and supporters, would be duly informed.

Mighty Blackpool, one of Sierra Leone’s most successful and historic football clubs, has long been a cornerstone of the nation’s football heritage. In his farewell message, Michael paid tribute to the club’s rich history, describing it as the greatest football institution in Sierra Leone and reaffirming his enduring commitment to its progress.

Despite stepping down from the chairmanship, Michael stressed that he would continue to support the club in other capacities and wished the team success in its future endeavors.

His resignation marks the end of a significant chapter in Mighty Blackpool’s administration and signals the beginning of a new era as the club looks toward fresh leadership and future development.

As the “Tiss Tass Boys” prepare for the next phase of their journey, supporters and stakeholders will reflect on Michael’s contribution to the club while anticipating what lies ahead for one of Sierra Leone’s football giants.
