…ENDLESS WISHES FOR FAILURE

Must read

Bo neither dis President nor go succeed!’ …but why? ‘Den just gie am da power dae.’ Who made Bio the President? ‘E nor go able do natin! ’Why must any sane person believe that nothing good will ever come out of the current administration?” We have been wondering why such utterances could be coming from those who claim to love our beloved country!

It is not part of patriotism to wish that the President of one’s country fails. Every failure on the part of those who rule is a failure for all and sundry: it is not a failure for their hard hearted supporters. If the President fails, the masses suffer and the country lags behind others. Every wish for failure is a wish for unrest!

In practical calculation, we are not unaware that countrymen do have things they might compromise but our prayers swing in the direction that if they must compromise, let it  be on those things that help to augment the development strides of our beloved country; that do not only talk about things we do but also our thoughts. Like dreams, which should be as big as a whale, the thoughts of patriots should always be refined as technology. Where this is lacking, it does not send good signals towards the collective effort.

The President in definition is unlike many other: she or he is not a self made personality. In plain terms, the person carrying the title work under the wish of an appreciable number of the country’s populace, to not only actualize developmental plan set by the country, but also invent and/or borrow initiatives that are agreeing to a country’s life and living patterns.

While we bellow for positive amend, we must appreciate that development is an intricate process: in that the role of all and sundry cannot be overemphasized. It is unfortunate that priorities have been misplaced! Why must countrymen owe the finest adherence to mere political parties than their country? Why must our desire for self aggrandizement engulf that which is set for the good of all?

In our hearts and minds, despair has been displaced since. Nonetheless, Sierra Leoneans must value that criticism that is not constructive is destructive; and remember that patriots do not ask what their country has ever done for them but what they have done for their country!

We want countrymen to sense that it takes two people to discover the truth: one to make the utterance and the other to understand. We have made the utterance! Sierra Leone must be placed above all else!
