Police prosecution witness, Sergeant 2668 Buya Abu Kamara, an Exhibit Clerk attached to the Ross Road Police Division in Freetown, has tendered a kitchen knife before Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma, of the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1.
According to the police, the knife was allegedly used by the accused, namely Momoh Tokaigo and Yatta Banister, to stab Alimamy Siaka Sesay to death on the 9th July, 2020, at No. 31 Upper Looking Town, Kissy in Freetown.
The witness highlighted his duties and responsibilities, which include receiving all exhibits and tendering them in court when needed.
Mr. Kamara told the court that, on that fateful day, he was on duty at the Exhibit Office, at the Ross Road Police Division in Freetown, when Inspector Suliaman A. handed over to him one black knife in respect of a murder matter.
He detailed the court that he registered it in a court Exhibit Book, against serial No. 101/2020, adding that since then he had been in custody of the exhibit. It was also produced and tendered in court, marked as exhibit F.
The police charge sheet adduces that Momoh Tokaigo and Yatta Banister, on the 9th July, 2020, at No. 31 Upper Looking Town Kissy, in Freetown, murdered Alimamy Siaka Sesay.
During cross examination by the defense counsel, Michaela P. George, he put it to the witness that the knife he had tendered has nothing to do with the accused. The witness responded in the negative.
Mrs. George attempted to make a bail application on behalf of her client, but her application was not granted. The accused were refused bail and sent on remand at the Male Correctional Centre, Pademba Road in Freetown.
The matter will come up again on the 1st December, 2020.
