Exhibit Clerk Testifies In Larceny Matter

Sergeant 8577 Alimamy Abu Kamara, attached to the Kissy Police Division in Freetown, yesterday testified before Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma, of the Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 1, in the ongoing store breaking and larceny matter involving one Isata Koroma and three others, who are standing trial for allegedly breaking into the store of the complainant, Alfred Kallay, and stole therein certain valuable properties worth millions of Leones.

Mr. Kamara continued his testimony highlighting his duties and responsibilities, which include receiving all exhibits in relation to matters that have been investigated and keeping them under police custody. He added that he was also charged with the responsibility of tendering all exhibits in court, when the need arises.

The witness said he could recall 4th April, 2020.  He told the court that he was on duty at the Kissy Police Division in Freetown, when Detective Police Constable 13448 Sankoh A. handed over to him the following items, which are two damaged padlocks, one stapler and a Bluetooth player as exhibits.

The witness detailed the court that he registered them against serial  No. 67/2020 and were produced and tendered in court to form part of the court`s records.

During the cross examination, by the defense counsel, M.P. George, who represented all the accused, she asked the witness whether any handset was handed over to him as exhibit.

“Those were the only exhibits I received from the investigating officer,” Mr. Kamara responded.

According to the police charge sheet, Isata Koroma and three others, on the day in question at Wellington, in Freetown, broke into the store of the complainant, Alfred Kallay, and stole certain valuable properties worth millions of Leones.

The accused are on bail, and the matter will come up again on the 27th November, 2020.
