Ibrahim Koda, a farmer, yesterday testified before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Magistrate Court No.1 against four accused who were alleged to have conspired together to murder Kadiatu Yalie Kargbo at Kamabai Village. The accused include Ishmael Koroma, Alhaji Mansaray, Ernest Conteh and Lamin Tarawalie.
Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim Mansaray, the witness said he recognized all the accused in the dock, and could recall Sunday 8th March 2020.
He said, on that day, he was at Falaba Town when Chernor Sawaneh who is the first prosecution witness gave him information about the deceased, and based upon that information he told Chernor that they should make a report at the police station.
He furthered that he and Chernor went to the Section Chief of the town and made a report, adding that the Section Chief referred them to the Paramount Chief. It was the Paramount Chief that called the first accused (Ishmael) and asked him about the deceased. The 1st accused told them that he left the deceased at Kamabai Park.
According to the witness, he and Chernor went to the Kamabai Police Station and made a report.
During cross examination by defense counsel, Fornah Sesay, for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th accused, the witness said all what he knew in the matter is what Chernor told him.
The accused are arraigned on two counts of conspiracy to murder and murder, which offences are contrary to law.
The indictment states that the accused, on 8th March 2020, at Kamabia Village, conspired together with other persons unknown to murder Kadiatu Yalie Kargbo. The matter was adjourned to 14th September 2020.
