Alhaji Yaya Mansaray yesterday made his first appearance before Magistrate Marke Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.2 and was remanded at the Male Correctional Centre.
Police alleged that he was armed with a cutlass and robbed Siafa Johnson Momoh at his house, assorted properties all to the tune of twenty-five million, one hundred and twenty thousand Leones (Le 25,120,000).
The accused was charged on two counts of conspiracy and robbery with aggravation, which are all contrary to section 23(1) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The court details state that the accused, on Thursday 26th March 2020 at Kamayama Lumley in Freetown, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony, to wit robbery with aggravation.
The court details continue that the accused, on the same day at the same place, robbed the complainant one JSK plasma television, valued at six million, five hundred thousand leones (Le6, 500,000), one Del computer, valued at four million, five hundred thousand Leones (Le4, 500,000) and other valuable items, which all amounted to twenty-five million, one hundred and twenty thousand leones (Le25,120,000), which are the properties of Safia Johnson Momoh.
After the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty to the offences. Following this, the police prosecutor, Sergeant 8998 Kadie Taylor, sought for a date, explaining that she has just received the file and the witnesses were not present in court.
The accused was denied bail by the Magistrate and the matter was adjourned to the 20th April 2020.
