Dr. Philip John Kanu the Vice Chancellor and Principal of the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) is presently wrestling in court with one of his Lecturers, Tejan Sheik Rogers on allegation that the lecturer has subjected him to cyber bullying.
Lecturer Tejan Sheik Rogers is arraigned before the court on a count charge of cyber stalking, contrary to Section 44 (2) (b) of the Cyber Security and Crime Act 2001.
Police alleged that lecturer Tejan Sheik Rogers on a date unknown between the 1st and 31st of November 2022 in Freetown, through social media used his WhatsApp number to create and post recorded audios and text messages against Dr. Philip John Kanu which created the effect of cyber stalking and bullying by means of a computer system via a WhatsApp group called “Maada Must Stay Campaign” that may likely damage his character.
Meanwhile, Prosecutor CSP Joan Bull informed the court that the Prosecution has closed its case. Defense Counsel Tejan Barrie sought for a short date for them to open their case and it was granted by the Magistrate.
The matter comes up next on 14th March 2025 for lecturer Tejan Sheik Rogers to open his defense.
