For Obtaining Money By False Pretenses… Man, 37 In Court

A 37-year-old unemployed man on Wednesday 21st January 2025 made his first appearance before the Principal Magistrate Court No. 1 in Freetown for obtaining money by false pretenses.

The defendant Austin Jusu, is standing trial on one count of obtaining money by false pretences.

According to the particulars of offence, the defendant, between 30th September 2023 and 31st December 2023 in Freetown, with intent to defraud, obtained the total sum of one hundred thousand Leones (Le 100,000) from Abubakarr Mohamed Kabbie by falsely pretending that he would provide PVC windows and doors, knowing to be false.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.

Inspector Mabel Tarawalie served the defendant with a copy of the offence he is charged with in open court. The defendant was not legally represented. The Principal Magistrate, Brima Jah, adjourned the matter to 28th January for further proceedings.
