Justice Komba Kamanda of the Freetown High Court yesterday sentenced one Santigie Bockarie to twelve years imprisonment as he was found guilty of penetrating a twelve years old child.
The convict is standing trial on one count of sexual penetration of a child. The particulars of offense indicate that the accused, on 4th March 2018 in Freetown, engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a child.
Before sentencing, Justice Kamanda told the court that the prosecution led four witnesses to support their case, adding that the prosecution had proved their case beyond reasonable doubt, making the accused guilty of the offence.
At that juncture, defense counsel, M.S. Kallon, made plea of mitigation on behalf of his client. He cited that his client is a first time offender and has regretted his action.
Justice Komba Kamanda therefore sentenced him to twelve years imprisonment.
