Must read

By Janet A. Sesay
On Wednesday 8th April 2020, Yealie Abie Kamara made her tenth appearance before Magistrate Marke Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.2 and was committed to the High Court for further trial.
She was alleged by police to have wounded the complainant, Fudia Lamin, by stabbing her with a sharp object on her left eye thereby causing her grievous bodily harm.
The accused is arraigned before the court on three counts, which range from causing grievous bodily harm, wounding with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charge sheet indicates that the accused, on Tuesday 31st December 2019 at National Stadium Skye Street in Freetown, caused grievous bodily harm to Fudia Lamin with intent to do her grievous bodily harm.
The charge sheet continues that the accused, on the same day at the same place, maliciously wounded the complainant and also assaulted her in a manner occasioning her actual bodily harm.
Before committal, Magistrate Ngegba states that he had looked at the evidence before him and he was satisfied that the prosecution had proven their case beyond reasonable doubt, by calling four witnesses both factual and formal witness to testify in court.
Marke Ngegba said, with all the evidence given and the exhibit (s) tendered in court, the accused is fit to stand trial at the High Court and he therefore committed the matter to the High Court for further trial.
Magistrate Ngegba therefore granted the accused one hundred million leones bail and two sureties in like sum. He said that sureties should be gainfully employed and should produce a tittle deed not less than one hundred and thirty million leones and the bail should be approved by the Principal Assistant Registrar.
The matter was prosecuted by A.S.P. Hawa Bah.
