Former main opposition All Peoples Congress -APC Mayoral aspirant for the Makeni City Municipality, Bombali District, Northeastern Sierra Leone, Mr Ahamad Sesay popularly known as ‘Salim Yonka’ and his campaign manager Mr Ibrahim Mohamed Conteh( Twisto) are currently on the run as the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party -SLPP supporters on a daily basis raiding prominent APC young people in their homes.
Mr Ahamad Sesay (Salim Yonka) was aspirant for the APC Mayoral symbol, but lost to his contender Abu Bakarr Kamara ( Lamtales). After losing the symbol, Mr Sesay was made elections campaign spokesman for the APC in Bombali District and he was very much outspoken in bringing out the ills and bad governance policies of the SLPP and why Sierra Leoneans should not vote for President Julius Maada Bio for a second term.
During some of his media engagements, he was receiving death threats from members of the SLPP in and out of Makeni. After the June 24th 2023 election that is yet to receive international recognition, the SLPP supporters are on the rampage in secretly arresting key APC supporters and whisking them down to Freetown and keep them in unlawful detention. It is even rumoured that, some of the APC supporters arrested are tortured at the Operational Support Division (OSD) headquarters of the Sierra Leone Police in Freetown and secretly killed.
According to reliable sources, Mr Ahamad Sesay ( Salim Yonka) and Mr. Conteh ( Twisto) for over two weeks after the elections were not sleeping at their No 2 Bangura Street and No 5 Manetheh Street residences respectively in Makeni as SLPP supporters are raiding them day and night. According to information gathered by this writer, the SLPP supporters raiding Mr Sesay and his Campaign Manager are not residents of Makeni. Most of them according to sources, were former local militia fighters known as Kamajors imported from the Southeast by the Northeast Resident Minister, Mr Abu Abu Abdulai Koroma. Not only Mr Ahamad Sesay and his Campaign Manager have fled the Makeni City Municipality, but a good number of other young people have done same and leaving their families suffering.
The whereabout of Mr Ahamad Sesay (Salim Yonka)and his Campaign Manager, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Conteh ( Twisto) is still unknown.
