Fourah Bay College To Revive Cricket

The Ministry of Sports, in the Fourah Bay College (FBC) Student Union Government, and the Sierra Leone Cricket Association have engaged the FBC Cricket Club on the revival of the game in the College campus, this medium understands.

The Deputy Minister of Sports, for the SU Government, Linda N.N. Bull, said it is her ministry’s role and responsibility to revive games and sports in the campus of the College. “We are to create the bond amongst students through recreational activities and laying the platform for some of us to be part of these sports,” she stated.

In his brief statement, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA), Francis Trevor Samura, said it was no more news that the College had an existing Cricket Club and besides the club, he said the College already has certain players who are students at the College and more will soon join them in the future.

He also assured them that the above club will be a hub to train players to take part in the West African Inter-University Games despite the club has not been participating in the national league. The club officials have been taking part in congress and other vital meetings organized by the Cricket Association as stakeholders. Also the FBC Cricket Oval is part of their development plan to rehabilitate the ground.
