Free Health Care For Disabled, Aged

His Excellency the President, Julius Maada has committed himself to providing free health care for the physically challenged and the aged.

He was speaking during the official State Opening of Parliament past Thursday 10th May, 2018.

The President noted that, the physically challenged and the aged are the most disadvantaged groups in the country, adding that since the enactment of the Disability Act, no concrete actions have been taken by the previous government in providing basic services for persons living with disability.

Bio acknowledged that since the passing of the Disability Act into law, its implementation has been very weak and both government allocation and NGO support have been irregular, delayed and hugely centralized to big towns and cities.

Under his New Direction, the President vowed to make public facilities disability friendly, improve on incentives for teachers in special needs institutions and provide individual support to persons living with disability for economic empowerment.
