Swearing in ceremony of the deputy Mayor

Councilors of the Municipality of Freetown have on Wednesday 30th May, 2018 successfully conducted elections for the position of deputy Mayor for the Municipality at the Council’s Conference hall in Freetown.
Councilor Osman Koroma of Ward 404, Constituency 114 from Calaba Town community, was unanimously elected as the deputy Mayor of the Freetown Municipality.
The deputy Mayor, in his acceptance speech, thanked his colleagues for adding another milestone he will never forget in his life.
He recognized strides taken so far by Her Worship the Mayor of Freetown during a very short period of time. He urged his colleague councilors to work in the interest of their communities that voted for them.
Mr. Osman Koroma added that, they, as councilors, should take full responsibility towards solving the problems in areas like sanitation, street trading and infrastructure to relocate street traders and market women.
He said the he has been in the Freetown City Council since 2012, while disclosing that he was re-elected again during the March 7th general elections. The deputy Mayor noted that he has vast experience to deliver on his new role as deputy Mayor.
The Mayor, Freetown City Council, Her Worship the Mayor, Madam Yvonne Aki Sawyer, welcomed all newly elected councilors at the Freetown City Council. She urged all councilors to put away their partisan garments and work for their various communities.
Councilor Riadiatu Basher Sankoh, newly elected councilor representing Constituency 112, Ward 423, under the All People’s Congress (APC) party, stated that her election to the FCC was free and fair.
She urged the deputy Mayor to work hand in hand with them as councilors of their different wards.
The climax of the occasion was the swearing in of the deputy Mayor by Her Worship the Mayor of the Municipality, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer.
