Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 has remanded Mohamed Sesay ( Herbalist) and Sahr Kamanor (driver) for allegedly robbing one Micheal Foday Konnie of thirty-nine (39) mobile phones at No. 38 Jones Street in Lunsar Town, Marampa Chiefdom in Port-Loko District.
The firsthand witness, Michael Foday Konnie who also doubles as the victim, told the court that he recognized the accused persons and could recall the 5th July, 2019.
In his testimony, the victim stated that on that fateful day, he was at his tele-centre at No. 38 Jones Street in Lunsar Town, Marampa chiefdom in Port-Loko District between 11pm to 3am and that at around 4am he heard a loud sound on his door.
The witness recounted that he was later hit on his chest by a cement block that was thrown at him from outside.
He added that he later used the cement block to prevent the thieves from entering his Tele centre.
He also recounted that there was a tussle between him and the thieves as they made desperate moves to enter his tele center.
The 1ST accused, according to him, used a cutlass during the tussle to chop his left hand and while he was screaming as a result of the pain he sustained on his hand, he heard another loud sound in the neighborhood as thieves were also breaking into another house.
The witness disclosed to the court that the thieves later succeeded in entering his Tele center and carted away thirty-nine mobile phones belonging to customers a cash of three million and two hundred thousand Leones (Le3, 200,000).
He is reported to have made a statement at the Lunsar Police Station.
The police alleged that the accused persons were before the court on eight (8) count charges of robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent, unlawful possession of small arms and other related charges, all contrary to law.
The accused persons were not legally represented and hence they were remanded while the matter was adjourned to 13th September, 2019.
