By Donstance Koroma & Richard Kemoh
Hon. Josephine Maquie of Constituency 014 in the Lower Bambara and Malenguh Chiefdoms, Kenema District, in a snap interview with this medium, has outlined challenges faced by her constituents.
She noted that since the road was commissioned in 2013, it has remained uncompleted, as the former contractor for the road project is nowhere to be found.
The female MP disclosed that her constituency only has one approved school while many others remain unapproved.
The health sector, she also noted, is seriously constrained as there is no health center in the constituency. She called on Government and donor partners to help in this direction. She appealed against the backdrop that pregnant women and the aged walk long distances to access health care facilities.
The MP observed that the expectations of her constituents are very high.
According to Hon. Josephine, she promised to deliver on roads, schools, health centers, agriculture and all flagship programs in the New Direction government, but she maintained that development will take some time, citing that Rome was not built in a day.
The vibrant MP concluded by informing nightwatch that they are in very high spirits to deliver for their people under the New Direction. She detailed that female MPs will not be intimidated by their numerical strength which is by far lower than their male counterparts.
