‘I Feel Honored To Be Nominated’ -Leone Stars TM Says

After he was recognized by the National Entertainment Award (NEA), for his tremendous job done for the country’s senior national team, Leone Stars, Team Manger Christian Dauda said he felt honored to be nominated as the Best Sports Personality of the year 2020.

Speaking to the Night Watch Sports, via phone from the UK, Team Manager Dauda said he felt honored that people are really appreciating his work for this country. “Everything I do is for the love of the country. I have love of sports especially football, which is the country’s most cherished sport taking into consideration majority of the youths are engaged in sports. It’s a great honor and I also appreciate the organizers for considering me for such award,” he said.

He went further to reveal that he has been in sports for a very long time, noting that he was the Team Manager of his community’s football team, Brookfield United FC in 2004 and, in 2008, he came from the UK to help change the face of football but later he decided to serve in another capacity.

“It was in 2014 that the then Minister of Sports, Paul Kamara, requested me to be the Team Manager of Leone Stars and without thinking twice I accepted the offer because I believe that it was time for me to offer my service, work for the interest of the country and the young boys,” the humble Team Manager maintained.

“It’s hard work to be the Team Manager of the country’s senior national team. It has been a very challenging job, but I am always happy because the love of the country inspired me a lot to work very hard towards the development of sports.”

“I love sports; I am trying to see if there is any other way in which I can help the boys, who have chosen sport to be their career. We have to be serious about sports because it has the power to unite and develop the nation. Just take a look at the day we drew with Nigeria, the whole nation came together to celebrate. It was joyful all over the country; people were dancing in the street, even Sierra Leoneans in Nigeria were dancing. So this is the type of atmosphere we want to see in future,” he stated.

Manager Dauda also lavished praises on Coach John Keister for his fantastic job done. “The qualification for the next AFCON is in our hands,” he noted.
