The Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police, Ambrose Michael Sovula, has assured the Sierra Leone Police Football Club (FC) that he will continue to give his unflinching support towards development of sports in the institution.
The Sierra Leone Police is one of the seeded teams that will be participating in the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) playoff 2021 slated for Kono in the eastern region.
In his statement, on Tuesday March 2nd 2021 at the Sierra Leone Police Headquarter at George Street in Freetown, while addressing the Sierra Leone Police Football Club, the IG said he will always be committed towards the development of sports in the institution, noting that the SLP FC have been doing well all this while, and that, as far as football is concerned, they are a force to reckon with.
IG Sovula noted that they will make sure they give them the total support needed for the playoff, so that they will make it this time to the Sierra Leone Premier League.
He went further to state that the Executive Management Board is optimistic that the team will qualify to the Premier League this year. He encouraged the boys to maintain peace and unity among themselves and to also remember that, in sports, discipline is the key to success.
According to the team’s Media Officer, Hilton John, the Sierra Leone Police Football Team, which is one of the seeded teams in the SLFA playoffs 2021, will depart Freetown for Kono today ahead of their upcoming games this week. He underscored that it is not the first time they are going to the playoff.
“We are very optimistic of qualifying to the Sierra Leone Premier League this time. We always respect our opponents, but it is time our boys are well prepared and determined. We have what it takes to win the SLFA playoff,” he stated.
