After long discussions with some residents of the Thunder Hill Community, they expressed dissatisfaction over the way and manner Honourable Isaac Tarawally was treating them.
According to them, Thunder Hill Community is part of Constituency 118, and, if Honourable Tarawally was working in other areas of the constituency, then Thunder Hill Community should be equally considered.
“Thunder Hill should not be an exception,” they said.
The people of the community, especially the youths, are not happy with the Honourable, claiming that since he took over in 2018 he has not been performing as he promised while campaigning.
According to one of the youths, Mohamed Sillah, it was almost three years now since Honourable Isaac Tawarally, alias Zako-Tee, took office but, up till now, he has done nothing, not even to talk about Thunder Hill Community.
“He has done nothing that will benefit us. Instead, he keeps on saying that Thunder Hill Community is not the only community in Constituency 118,” said Mr. Sillah, a resident of Thunder Hill.
He added that they were expecting Honourable Zako-Tee to take off from where his predecessor had stopped, but, as it stands, he is not working to meet those expectations.
“And he even promised that he would do more than his predecessor,” Sillah furthered.
Speaking to the Nightwatch, in an exclusive interview on Tuesday 8th December 2020, Honourable Tarawally said he never made any campaign promises to anybody or community. “I took up office to work and serve my people and Constituency 118,” he said.
According to Honourable Tarawally, since he took up office in 2018, he has gone through some challenges including being taken to court for a petition along sixteen others.
Out of that number, 10 were dismissed; three were taken to the Court of Appeal, which is yet to pass judgment.
Honourable Tarawally also mentioned that, as part of the opposition in Parliament, he finds it difficult to advocate for his Constituency and raise funds to undertake development activities, which, he said, does not mean he was not doing his best to improve his Constituency.
“It is not a secret that I am on the opposition side in Parliament, but I will not use that as an excuse. I am doing my best to develop my Constituency,” he assured.
He confirmed to this medium that other communities have benefited from his leadership, one being the Brima Lane community.
“I have contributed in the construction of a public toilet in that community. The funds came from nowhere except from my mere salary,” he said.
He said another community, that is about to benefit from his leadership, is Grassfield. At Grassfield, he is about to start a virgin project in constructing a primary school building.
“And I am doing that out of my own salary and out of the help I have been asking from some of my colleague MPs and friends living abroad. None of this is funded by the government,” he disclosed.
Despite all the aforementioned projects, he never listed any developments made in Thunder Hill Community other than the commissioning of a new transformer.
They said, besides the commission a new transformer, the MP had never made an attempt to visit the community or engage them in a meeting to chart the way forward.
Asked when he visited Thunder Hill Community, he said, “I can’t make a promise, but I can you assure that, after the election in Constituency 110, I will visit the community for them to talk to their Honourable.”
