Bo, Sierra Leone- Investing in arts for women and youth must be at the heart of the development agenda in Africa, said the new country deputy administrator of Kiwuwa Achievement’s youth arts development activities today in Freetown.
“Africa’s large youth population presents and enormous opportunity for arts development”, said Mewah M. Maddie. “Harnessing the potential of Africa’s youth by investing in advanced education, skills development, and other social initiative can reap enormous dividends and spur Africa’s development”.
Miatta made her remarks during the opening of the third Kiwuwa Achievement Bo Regional Center at the very first annual conference to promote high-level policy dialogue between culturally unique artists, youth leaders, and sustainable community development partners.
At this year’s Youthful Transformational Development Conference, Kiwuwa Achievement’s new Culture and Arts Development Report will be launched in Bo, Sierra Leone. It focuses on accelerating cultural arts, gender equality and women’s empowerment in Africa. Lower economic growth, youth unemployment and financial illiteracy because of gender inequality was a key point highlighted in Mattia’s remarks.
