The International Olympic Committee (IOC) denied a possible cancellation or postponement of the upcoming Paris 2024 Games, due to the current political situation in France.

‘Obviously, it is part of the current disinformation campaign against France, the IOC, its president and the Olympic Games. It has no objective basis,’ the institution wrote in a statement on X.

According to the IOC, it is completely false that its president, Thomas Bach, is worried about the possible victory of the far-right Rassemblement Nationale de France on Sunday in the second round of legislative elections.

French media even reported that Bach had given until mid-July to decide whether the Games would be held between July 26 and August 11 as scheduled, or whether they might be postponed.

The IOC president and the entire Olympic Movement are looking forward to excellent Olympic Games in Paris 2024, which will begin with the opening ceremony on July 26, the world body said in its statement.

The French government also dismissed as “false” and “indecent” the news about the dispute of the Games, according to a message from Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra.

‘Our Games will indeed be held in Paris, on the scheduled dates. We have been preparing for them for years,’ she noted on X.
