Madam Carolin Rickers who arrived in Sierra Leone on Sunday 19 March 2023 will be organising a three-day training for the executive board and athletes of the National Paralympic Committee of Sierra Leone on how to comply with Good Governance Structure, the Anti-Doping Policy of the IPC and competition requirements.

She will also train the membership on how to apply for funding and implement IPC programmes.

According the Chief Executive Officer of NPC-SL, Alexander Thullah, during her four day stay in Sierra Leone she will be implementing the in-country support programme designed by the IPC in 2022 after realising that most African countries missed out of the Tokyo 2020 Games for lack of funding which prevented them from taking part in qualification events.

The overall objective of this training is to prepare Africa for the Paris 2024 Games. The IPC intends to give grants to struggling members but such beneficiaries must first be trained on how to apply and implement the projects.

Madam Carolin Rickers is a Programmes Senior Manager and her role at the IPC is to lead the programmed area Organisational Development that currently comprises the NPCDP activities Direct Financial Support Grant (DFSG), In-country Support (ICS) and NPCDP Grant.

She has Diploma in Sport Science and completed the FIFA Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport. Her professional background is 20 years’ experience in developing sports and sport organisations. Before joining the IPC, among others Carolin worked with the sport for development organisation Right to Play in Sierra Leone, the German Football Association, SV Werder Bremen and other sport organisations. She is a retired competitive football player, and has eight years’ experience as female football coach.
